In this article, we analyse the degree of knowledge and awareness of international organizations regarding the national level of education and culture, focused on food security culture of the population. Based on our analyses, the central point of a possible and very useful National Strategy for Food Security should be education, and in particular the educational system in Romania. Investing in education, from the earliest age to college, the governments over the world can solve many of the problems at the national and regional level, including the development of basic notions and knowledge related to food security. The analyses of various indicators for developed countries, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member states, with high level of education, reported to Romania, as candidate to OECD, will demonstrate the real importance of education, attitude and knowledge for food security and nutrition in Romania and also for other countries. One of the most important indicators of increasing the level of education and knowledge of food security in the world’s states is that of investing in education, public or private. International organizations, OECD or Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), recognize school children as a priority for nutrition interventions and view the school as an ideal setting for teaching basic skills in food, nutrition and health.
