The current study firstly conducts an analysis of the factors and the way they have influenced the dynamics and structure characteristics of European exports during the global crisis, focusing on elements specific to emerging European countries. Secondly, we performed a quantitative analysis on the way recession’s effects from the exporting and importing countries have affected the export volume dynamics. We investigate the extent to which changes in the mentioned volume are explained by variation of the exchange rate and of the domestic prices of the source-countries – export destination – and by the income of the latter, by the companies’ credits and other factors. In this manner, we reveal different aspects of how exports (and, hence, domestic product) of European countries has been affected by changes in global economic conditions.
