The most important channels through which one may achieve technological transfer are the the foreign direct investments, the import of capital goods, parts and components, the licensing contracts, the alliances and collaborations between firms. In this study we try to analyse the importance of these channels for the eastern and western european countries, in the last 10 years. We find that the dynamics of these channels of knowledge diffusion is higher in western european countries which will lead to the maintaining of the technological gap between the above mentioned groups of countries, the more so as we can find these differencies in the amplitude of national RD&I activities.
