The turbulences on the international financial markets are rather connected to the downfall of the American mortgage market than to the generalised insolvency of the debtors. Besides the need of specific resolution measures, the crises revealed the necessity to adopt prudential regulations concerning the activity of different financial institutions participating on the mortgage loans market.
The developments on the international financial market did not seem to have affected the financial stability in Romania.
