The West Region is situated in the western part of Romania, on the border
with Hungary and Serbia, and consist of four counties: Arad,
Caras-Severin, Hunedoara and Timis. This region has been traditionally
characterized by high standard of development, at least in comparisons
with the other regions of Romania. The region benefits from a favorable
geographical and economic location and from the presence of Danube, a
situation which make it to be a truly passage and contact area between the
Central and the Southeastern parts of Europe. Arad and Timisoara are the
largest economic centers of the region.
